Longtime Hemet High School teacher and coach Charlie Clark passes away

Longtime Hemet High School teacher and coach Charlie Clark passed away on September 30, 2011 in Boise, Idaho.


Charlie was born in Pecos, Texas August 7, 1937 to Clarabell and T.J. Clark. He spent his early years in Dunn and Ira, Texas and later moved to Big Spring, Texas, along with two younger sisters, Delores and Marae. Attending Big Springs High School, Charlie played basketball and graduated in 1955. He went to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces where he was an outstanding basketball player graduating with a degree in education.


In 1961 Charlie began his teaching career in El Paso, Texas. In 1962 he moved to Grants, New Mexico where he taught and coached basketball and baseball. In 1964 Charlie met his future wife, Shari. They wed on May 29, 1964. In 1967 Charlie and Shari moved to Hemet, California with their three daughters, Christy, Pammy and Kelly. He called them his "Charlie's Angels."


During his teaching career at Hemet High School Charlie served as head basketball coach, head golf coach, P.E. Department head, and co-athletic director. Charlie and Shari retired from Hemet Unified School District in 2003.


Charlie's avid passion was golf. As a member of Soboba Springs Golf Course and the Soboba Men's Club, Charlie held the title of club champion several times. He also loved to camp and fish in the Sierra Mountains. After several years of traveling Charlie and Shari moved to Boise, Idaho in 2008.


Charlie passed away on September 30, 2011 with his loving wife Shari by his side. Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter Kelly and his sister Marae Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shari; two daughters, Christy Smith of Boise, Idaho and Pamela Picchiottino and son-in-law Terry of Murrieta, and son-in-law Ed Autenreith and wife Carolyn; sister Delores Jenkins and husband Paul of Big Spring, Texas; brother-in-law Norman Noffsiner and wife Judy of Fruita, Colorado. Charlie is also survived by seven grandchildren: Hailey and Carson Smith of Boise, Cole and Charley Jo Picchiottino of Murrieta, and Cade, Garrett, and Brooklynn Autenreith of Hemet.


Charlie will be missed by all who knew and loved him; family, close friends and golfing buddies.


Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 191 S. Columbia Street in Hemet on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A private service will take place at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery.
