High schools throughout the Hemet Unified School District have announced their valedictorians and salutatorians for this academic year.

Tahquitz High’s valedictorian is Eric Little, who finished sixth in the 319-person class with a 3.95 GPA. The salutatorian is Travis Prill, who was 18th with a GPA of 3.65.

Hemet West Valley’s Laura Sisk, with a 4.11 GPA, earned the top spot at her school and Rebecca Nevarez, with a 3.94 GPA, is her school’s salutatorian. Sisk was third in the 350-student class and Nevarez was 10th.

At Hamilton High in Anza, the 88-person class is led by Joseph Terlisner, who has a 4.14 GPA. Andrew Patterson (4.05) and Sunny Sutton (3.98) are the salutatorians.

The Hemet Academy for Applied Academics and Technology, the district’s charter school, will have Ashley Vicinus (3.91) as its valedictorian and Joshua Littrell (3.85) as its salutatorian of its 50-person senior class.

While most districts select their top honors based solely on grade point average, Hemet uses a formula where it multiplies GPA times the student’s score on the SAT, resulting in some students who finish lower than first or second in their class earning the honors.
