The Famous Jett Jackson Has Been Terminated

Think back to the times when you would wait all week just to watch the new Disney Channel Movies, such as Johnny Tsunami in 1999 and Jett Jackson: The Movie in 2001. An actor in both of these movies by the name of Lee Thompson Young just died on August 19, 2013.Although Young did not have a long career, he had an amazing ride starting in 1999 with his role as Sam Sterling in Johnny Tsunami. Young was born in 1984 to Velma Love and Tommy Scott Young, who later divorced when he was about 7. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina. He realized he wanted to be an actor at a young age. At age 10, he starred in a play, “A Night of Stars and Dreams,” in which he portrayed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. After this realization, during his spring break in 1996, Young traveled to the Big Apple and got an agent. In 1997, he auditioned for the role of Jett Jackson in “The Famous Jett Jackson” on Disney Channel. The next year he was told that Disney approved the show and it was going to be aired.

His death, however, was ruled a suicide. His landlord found him in his LA home when he didn’t show up for production of Rizzoli and Isles. The show is said to be suspended until further notice. No body really knows how long the show will be shut down, but it is said that it will return eventually. There was apparently no suicide note, and it is said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was last seen on the 17th.

Young went to work on several TV series’, TV movies and eventually cinematic movies. He had a recurring role in “Smallville” as Victor Stone/Cyborg. He starred in the show “The Guardian,” “Jake 2.0”, “Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story” (TV movie), “Friday Night Lights”, “Akeelah and The Bee”, “The Hills Have Eyes II”, and his most recent work, “Rizzoli and Isles” as Detective Frost. The co-stars of Rizzoli and Isles and the production company all send their condolences to Young’s family. Although he was only 29 when he died, he was loved by everyone who ever worked with him.
