HEMET Lisa DeForest has resigned from the Hemet Unified School District board. She has moved out of the district. Her resignation took effect Wednesday, a news release stated. DeForest, a chiropractor, was elected in 2008 and again in 2012. Her term ends in December 2016. The board will discuss the opening at its Feb. 24 meeting, when it will be decided whether to fill the spot through an appointment or election. DeForest is one of five trustees who represent Hemet proper on the sevenmember board. Two of those seats were contested in the November election and there were no challengers. – Craig Shultz
